Default 420SEL seat problem

I have an '88 420sel which I bought sight unseen off of E-Bay.(I had just finished watching the movie"The year of Living Dangerously." Because I had it trucked up from Florida, I haven't even driven it yet. However, when I sat in the front driver's seat I felt as if it were rather spongy, like perhaps the seat springs were broken. Is this the way the seats are supposed to feel? If not, how does one repair the springs?

Yes, the seats are very springy; you will notice when driving they are tuned very carefully to the suspension; some customers object to the sway when driving "with spirit" in turns; there was a service bulletin instructing dealers to install additional springs for these customers. I kinda like them, but they are different. The seats are very durable. Sounds like yours are normal; if you are not familiar with Mercedes, they will be obviously different.
Drive and enjoy,
Randy

IF YOU PUSH ON THE CORNER AND IT FEELS SOFT THE SPRING IS PROB BROKEN YOU CAN TELL BY MOVING THE SEAT ALL THE WAY UP SO YOU CAN LOOK UNDER IT WITH A LIGHT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE IF ITS BROKEN WHEN PUSHING ON SEAT AT SAME TIME ,,THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SEATS ....
