Default 215 tire width in place of 205-65-15 on 1990 126 car?

Hello,

Anyone have any expereice of going to a little wider
tire on their 126 car?
The stock tire is 205-65-15 with a diameter of 25.5"
I was thinking of going to a 215-60-15 (dia 25.2") or
a 215-65-15 (dia 26")

Will this effect the ABS system? What if I only
change the rear tires for now? Anyone know how much
of a diameter difference between front and rear that
will set off the ABS light?

Thanks
Dan

I have a W202 that had as stock 205.60.15 and when to a 215.60.15 I have ABS Traction, ESp, brake assist and nothing has changed, except the cars handles curves better, it does ride a little rougher however, due to the wider tire, even a small increase and I noticed the difference in the ride

Dan, you might want to play around the air pressure a bit, start at the Mercedes PSI and add a pound or two and see if they handle better. I'm running 32PSI front and rear, instead of Mercedes recomendation of 28psi front and 32psi rear, steering is more neutral. Usually lower PSI in front will creat understeer, something a manufactuer wants and higher PSI in front then in rear creates oversteer, unless your a very good driver is not desirable, but on Mercedes I had experience with front set at the rear PSI will give you a mostly neutral steering, with slight understeer in my car, Remember all cars are difference and this is a guideline, you be the judge where under or oversteer occur. You might want to keep a bit of understeer for safety sake.
