What fits on your car and what works on your car are 2 different things. You could "fit" 20's on there if you wanted to but they wouldn't work for crap. 19's are probably okay as long as you get the right size tires. 18's are probably your safest bet and offer better tire availability. You can go staggered, up to 9.5 or 10" in the back and no wider than 8.5" up front but you'll have to get the right offset so they won't rub. Pro's for staggered: They look cool and give you pretty good traction. The Cons: You can't rotate your tires other than cross matching which, if you have directional tires will require you to remove the tires from the rim and have them re-mounted and balanced to the other rim every time you rotate them. Pro's for non-staggered: Tire rotation. Cons: Don't look as cool. Additionally, if you try and run a 19" staggered setup you'll be hard pressed to find the tires in the sizes you need all from one manufacturer as the fronts will need 235/35-19 and the rears will need 255 or 265/30-19. I'm meaning you'll have a hard time getting a tire that isn't a "High Performance Summer Only" tire. My car came factory with staggered 17's and I'm in the process of upgrading them to all one width 19x8.5's. If you want to do a side by side comparison and play with different tire sizes go to 1010tires.com and use their tire size calculator. You plug in the factory size and the size you want to run and it'll tell you all the specifics in relation to O.D. , revolutions, speedometer accuracy, etc... I'm no expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once

hey thanks for the tips! i found these AMG wheels on ebay, do u think they will fit a 1995 C280? the owner of wheels says bolt pattern is 5x100, but shouldnt it be standard 5x112 for mercedes? this is the site:

Yeah, I think whoever is selling them is either drinking laundry detergent for breakfast, doesn't know what he's talking about or was using an adapter to make them fit. If they are authentic AMG wheels they have to be 5x112. Just verify what the offset is and then use the calculator at 1010tires.com to see how it compares to your factory offset.
