I have a Mercedes Benz 1997 S500. The other day I was low on gas, after refilling, car started to idle rougly and now I have noticed a sulfur like smell,after turning engine off. Please help if you have any idea what may be happening.

sounds like your cat. converter is going out the window. It's starting to clog it sounds like and creating more back pressure than needed
