I am new to this site and have searched for an answer but could not find one identical to mine so I am posting asking for help. I was driving my 2004 ML350 (55K miles) and ran out of gas on the way to the gas station. I went back and fourth to the gas station finally getting up to 1/4 tank full. When I turn the ignition it runs real rough and shakes for about 5 seconds then dies. It does this every time and will not change at all. There were absolutely no problems or issues before this, it ran perfect. I called my local MB Master Service tech and he said it could be the CPS, fuel filter, or fuel pump. I advised him that there were no problems before I ran out of gas (again) and he said it could be just a coincidence (doesn't sound likely to me). I ran a code scanner on it and picked up no codes. I can work on cars so if someone has some advice and can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I would like to check the fuel pressure to see if it is the fuel pump but have not done this on the ML and am not sure how to. Also, I don't know if I'd get an accurate reading if it's only running for 5 seconds? Looking forward to any help I can get.
