Default ML320 radio removal

Hi all. I need to replace the broken "aux" button that is to the left of the radio on my 2000 ML320. Ibelieve I need to remove the radio to gain access to the button BUT the oem mercedes radio removal keys are not clicking into place. I tried pushing on the radio to make sure it was seated correctly andI tried pushing hard on the removal keys but they just aren't clicking into place.

Any suggestions? I'll check back periodically. Thanks.

Default RE: ML320 radio removal

I used a flat metal blade 1/4 to 3/16" wide and .020" thick. Push it into the narrow slot on the bottom of the radio, say the right hand side, pointing it on a outward angle then rotate the blade to the right to release the catch. Also push in on the radio at the same time so there is no pressure on the catch. Once it is released on this side, do the same on the other side and radio will pull right out.

Hi ml_owner,

Did you ever try the technique that vlowe suggested? I'd like to remove my radio as well but I am afraid that with rotating the blade I might crack the narrow slots. Should the blade have a flat head or pointed?

Default Radio Removal

I just went to the dealer and ordered the tools, 2 flat blades with notches, one for left and and one for right. Price was $10 and will work on most MBZ including my ML320.

That sounds like the best solution. I didn't know that a special tool is available for this! Thank you so much! -- Bertram
