Default Removal of Radio cassette Unit

Greetings from Australia........The audio unit in my '84 380SEL is not happening...cassette does not work and radio reception is marginal away from the CBD ( Sydney). I will replace it with a C.D. AM/FM unit I have...my question is how does one remove the old unit. Idon't wish to start pulling off the wrong panels and damaging same....any help please???????

you only need the radio removal tool. no need to remove anything.

Hi...just exactly what, is the radio removal tool ? Pardon my ignorance but I am used to working on Jaguars not Mercedes

um its a funny little long tool which you put down the side of ur head unit and it detaches little metal clips so you can pull the whole unit out. if you can get the face off the tape unit you can see these and do it with a screw driver
