Default Looking at either ML350 or ML500

Wife and I are thinking of selling the E320 and getting an ML350 or ML500 for space and hauling reasons. Could anyone give me the pros and cons of buying one of these vehicles.
We drove two over the weekend and they seemed to be fine. They had a slightly rougher ride which is to be expected from what is basically a truck.
I want to know what to expect in the area of maintainence and upkeep.
Anyone had a lemon? Anyone think their great?
What about long trips...an hour or more...is it comfortable? Does it beat you to death like a truck?
What about female drivers. This will be my wife's main vehicle, as opposed to the E320, will she like it? Can she handle it?

I purchased ML 350 about 8 months ago. There are 2 major things you should consider. First, it's not a German made, you probably knew that already. But MLdoesgive me aAmerican Car feeling sometimes (notin a good way).

Second, ML onlygive you 15 mpg, you probably knew that too, but not until you own one. It's really 15 mpg or less when it's brand new,I can'timagine how much less it's going to be when the car get older.

Other than that, I think it's a really nice car. It's very comfortable and roomy.

I'm getting around 13-14 mpg in my 1999, and 17-18 mpg on the hwy. I've only burned 93 in it, and I've had it in for every check up, including having the oil changed around every 4000-4500 miles or so, never let it go over 4500 miles. Can't really complain, it's got just under 50,000 miles on it, have several vehicles, so, don't drive it all the time, but really do enjoy the vehicle when I do drive it, everyone says it looks like it's new, guess it helps to keep it in the garage. My other vehicles are BMW 325is, Lexus GS300, and a Toyota Tacoma Xtended Cab. Out of the 3 high price vehicles, I like the ML better than the others, just my preference. Guess it's all about what you like. Good Luck in you decision.

Oh yea, forgot to say, my wife would drive the ML everyday if I'd let her, she loves sitting up high, and the ride is not really that ruff, not as ruff as you'd think. Again, good luck.
