Default Left rear noise W164 280CDI

Hi all,

First post! I recently purchased a ML280CDI and it has been great so far. I've fixed the intake/turbo related issues and thankfully the engine is error free - for now.

I have an odd noise however that seems to generate from the rear left of the car. I've had it up om the jack and the wheel rolls freely, with no obvious play from the bearing. The sound also disapears when turning to the right moderatly. It's a continuos sound, that rises in frequency with speed (not gear). Replacing a wheel bearing seems quite obvious, but it also sounds like it may be a combination of transfer case and wheel bearing noise. Both apear to be likely culptits. At low speeds, it sounds like 'clicking', which frequency raises with the speed. Throtle position has no affect, so I've ruled out the rear diff for now.

Additionally, I have the following errors:

5132 MIL ON&Stored L6/4 (right rear speed sensor):Check wheel bearing(s).
5122 MIL ON&Stored L6/3 (left rear speed sensor):Check wheel bearing(s).
5112 MIL ON&Stored L6/2 (right front speed sensor):Check wheel bearing(s).
7271 MIL ON&Stored Implausible values from rpm sensors:Front axle
5399 Stored(Event) CAN signal 'Gear selected' from control unit N15/3 (ETC [EGS] control unit) is implausible.
5106 MIL ON&Stored This fault can be ignored and erased.
5126 MIL ON&Stored This fault can be ignored and erased.
5125 MIL ON&Stored L6/3 (left rear speed sensor):Implausible wheelspeed
7270 MIL ON&Stored Implausible values from rpm sensors:Rear axle
7286 Stored(Event) CAN signal 'N72/1s24 (Downhill Speed Regulation switch)' from control unit N72/1 (Upper control panel control unit) is implausible.

Any suggestions on where to start?
