Default ets light and cruise control

Ml-320 1998 ETS light is on with engine running and cruise control does not work. I have checked the fuse in engine compartment, but this did not help. Any ideas what to do? Is there other fuse boxes, which are not mentioned in an owner mannual?

possibly the stop lamp switch has an internal fault causing the problem

Is it located in the same fuse box? Shouldn't brake lights go off or mulfunction in this case either? Do I need to reset car computer after I change the switch? Thank you for your reply.

mbz811 is right about it probably being the brake light switch. It is fitted onto the bracket which holds the brake pedal. The brake lights will normally still work despite a problem with the switch. The switch has 2 contact switches built into it and it is probably a fault with the contact switch that is used by the BAS system. If you replace the switch, you don't need to reset the computer, however, a fault will remain logged in the system. ( but the light will be off and cruise contro will work)
