ABS, ETS/BAS, ESP, Check Engine Lights On
Hello:
I have a '01 ML 320 and it came with standard 16" rims and tires. Living in Ottawa I purchased 17" rims and winter tires.
Shortly after having them installed my ABS, ETS/BAS, ESP and Check Engine light starting coming on then they would go off for a while and then come back on. The lights are currently on.
Would this have anything to do with the winter tires and the fact they are a different diameter/circumference or do I have other problems.
Any suggestions on the problem and fix would be appreciated.
Looking for answers in Ottawa??
Thanks,

Folks, went to the Young Street Garage in Ottawa and after running the diagnostics they determined that the Brake Lamp Switch needed replacement. Everything seems to be good at this point.
A comment about the Young Street Garage for those of you in Ottawa. I was very impressed with there professionalism and way they do business. Rather than go and replace the ETS module ($1100) which was indicated by the printouts there experience suggested that by replacing the Brake Lamp Switch the errors would not reoccur. Time will tell but it was refreshing to know that there first choice was to NOT spend a pile of the customers money and use there experience to fix the problem.
If you have a MB in the Ottawa area I would recommend giving this garage your business.

I bet everything will be fine with 17" rims and tires, very common for that switch to fail. Internal contact made out of stainless will bent only so many cycles before braking off turning on all 3 warning lights on left side of your dash. Switch is only $10 at dealer. I had to do mine last year and the guy in parts dep. was not surprised at all.
