I just bought the 1999 ML320 2 days ago. I try to retract the sunroof, it makes a horrible grinding/clickering type sound. Is it off track? Or something in the way of the Track? It will try to retract, but will only go so far. I've tried the sunroof reset for grins. But it didnt work. So if you can Help Please.

 

One of the deflector arms may be broken and it is in the way for the track to move back. I bought mine thatway, replaced the deflector assembly with lifting arms and now it is fine for 3 years. Just work it back and fort untill it opens up far enough to work on it.

Okay well in working with the sunroof today, i can get to go back about 2 inches and thats from when its closed. after that, it wont go anymore. In seeing how the roof opens from the top is there maybe a bracket that could keep it from having the roof layer each other?
