Default 06 ML350 door lock **** height

Just bought a 2006 ML350 for the wife. Her only complaint, so far, is that the lock **** on the door is too tall when locked. She wants to rest her arm on the window sill but the **** sticks into her arm. I was thinking of either cutting it and then sanding it smooth to be flush with the door, or replacing it with a shorter one. The dealership is ordering a set from a different type of Mercedes that is flush when locked (they did this to make the sale) but i am unsure what type of style. Does anyone have any experience with this?

the door panel can be removed and then the **** can be screwed down to lower it or unscrewed to raise it.

Interesting, the salesman said it pulled off not unscrewed. I thought that was weird, but then again he was the salesman, not the mechanic. Thanks for the info. Will pursue that route.

from my 11 years with Benz...alot or most of the sales men have no clue..
im not totally sure on what ***** are on there..i think some had a squreish type shape which can be screwed down or up for height adjutment but the panel needs to come off.. S classes and some other cars have that type. alot also just had a staight **** which you could screw on or off without removeing the door panel. alot of times the door panel has already been off for some reason and the door panel is not correctly seated on the door which can make the lock not sit flush. or the rod itself is slightly bent.
