"Check Engine" Followed By A Humming Noise
Hi,
I have a 1999 Mercedes ML 430. The 'check engine' light comes on and has been on for the past 3 days.
When I accelerate, the engine makes a revving noise that gets louder the faster I go. The car is in drive not in any other gear. This doesn't happen when I back the car up though.
When I slow down, the engine makes this humming/purring noise like a sports car would usually make but more dramatic.
When the car comes to a complete stop, there is no noise whatsoever from any part of the car.
Along with the noise, the fuel reserve is at the 'half full' mark and the light for low fuel keeps flashing as I drive and then eventually shuts itself off. I tried filling up the fuel and the needle goes to the full mark, but the light continues to flash.
I have no idea or even a hint as to what could be the problem. All the cars fluids are in good shape. Anyone help!
