Default transmission stuck

Can't get out of first gear with 2008 GL450. Happened suddenly as I was pulling it out of the driveway. Parked it immediately and is this something that can be corrected on my own or should I have it towed to a MB mechanic?

Part inside the shift as broken ,you can get an alloy replacment .Other thing it can be is the service brake light switch broken . Both can lock up the shift .

thanks, that is exactly what happened I believe the service light has been on! Will have it towed in to the repair shop nearby anyway. Just to be on the safe side. Thanks for responding.
