I have an '02 G500 with 59K miles on it. It sat for over a month and had to jump it. It has a couple issues so it seems. I felt a bad vibration in the front end and thought it was tires. I replaced the fronts(back over 1/2 life left) and had them balanced twice and still a bad shimmy at 60-75 and up. The weird thing is it also seems like it is not in overdrive at those speeds on the highway. At 65 the RPM's are almost 2500 and engine sounds like it's really working. Does this sound normal?? Also, after driving a while when I park it and get out I smell a "burning" smell almost like rubber. Had it checked for leaks and nothing at all. So basically I have a high speed shimmy, burning smell by front end, and might not be shifting into overdrive.....HELP! Thanks!!

 

i have a 2002 g500( for year now) with 72k miles. i live in mi where it gets cold here. i had the burning smell but it just started on me this winter. i only got it when i started my car in the morning at cold temps. i would start my car and i would smell it( thats the only time,it smells like the belt is burning). i took it the dealer and they said its cuz i had small leak on my oil valve. they changed it. i didnt smell it after(my check engine light was on as well). for the vibaration part i have the same issue. i took it to a friend whose a certifed mechinac he said i had a misfire (tune up) he fixed it the problem got alot better. but it came back about 7 months later but not as worse. it feels like its my front passenger wheel. it only happens when im driving atleast over 40mph and i hit the brakes. im going to give it a complete brake job. your other issue on the power part. i feel the same too. my car feels like is ruggish. it has power when i floor it but it sounds weird. hope some of this helps.
