Wondering what model of cd changer I need?
Hello. My name's Nate and I just recently purshaced and fixed up a 2000 e320. Unfortunately, there wasn't a cd changer located in the trunk, so as of right now I don't have any form of music (the antenna on top is also busted). Anyways, I checked the pre-wiring in the trunck and it appears that the wires have been spliced and replaced with a different connector for a cd changer. The new connector is described below.
My only question is what model of cd changer am I looking for? Any help would be greatly appeciated! I'm a huge music lover and its really hard not having anything to listen to at the moment. I'm also dying to hear the premuim sound system.
The new connection has 15 small holes. 7 on the top row and 8 on the bottom row. It also has 2 connecting clips located on each side.
Thanks,
Nate

Nate:
I'm a newbie, but I'll take a stab at your problem since I had it on a '94 400E with the same issue. I discovered that an Alpine CD changer was compatable with the Becker factory radio in that model year. Don't think I can do much damage by giving you wrong info here, but if you call a decent car stereo store in your area that sells Alpine systems, they should be able to tell you if it still works with the MB factory head units.

what will determine which changer is to dbl check the head unit you have right now. if it
is the OEM issued Audio30 which came with 99-02, then I can't imagine how a simple
rewiring of the head unit-to-changer can work. the Audio30 is not backward compatible
to analog changers found in pre-99 210s. the 99-02 head units were D2B digital compliant
changers operating with fiber optic connectivity (bright orange twin lead).
take photo of head unit, or, pull the head unit and take photo of the rear..including the
wiring plugged into the head unit.
