Default W210 E430 - Fuel pump noise

The fuel pump is making noise after 5 minutes drive. It makes a pulsing groaning sound with a frequency of about 1 per second. No engine failure codes, and the car seems to drive normally, but the pump feels a little warm after a while.

The fuel filter was changed, fuel pump relay and three different pumps tried with same result - still groaning.

Anyone having an idea?

Thanks,
Roland K

i never heard of that issue. could be that the rubber bushings supporting the pump arent there or were not installed correctly or rubbing against something. the fuel pump doesnt pulse, its always on so not sure what your hearing.

Three different used pumps? Usually, when the pump makes noise, time to replace. So you've tried four used pumps?

Hello guys,

Problem solved - another out of the box fuel filter (Mahle this time) silenced the pulsing pump. The integrated pressure damping device was u/s in the "aftermarket" new filter.
