Default w210 e320 cdi Gearbox Oil Change?

My car has done 78k and is going in for the B service. I have noted various threads about gearbox's playing up, both before and after gearbox oil changes.

My car is driving fine but not had the gearbox oil changed - ever. Should I have it changed in this service?

Also is the fuel filter included in the service costs or an extra item?

Thanks.

IMHO do not change the trans oil till you get to at least 100k miles.
It COULB BE beneficial to change IF you do a lot of heavy trailer towing or drive at high speed 100mph+ in high ambient temp 40deg C+ for extended periods.
USE only MB recommended / supplied trans fluid!!

Make sure they drop the pan to change the fluid. The drain plug has a hump inside the pan and sits higher than the floor of the pan. You wont get all the fluid out without dropping the pan. Also have them replace the trans filter. And, drain the torque converter fluid.

You won't get 100% of the fluid out anyway especially if the Torque Converter isn't fitted with a drain plug.

You will have to drop the pan if you change the filter.

No point in changing the oil if you don't change the filter.

IMHO Recommendation.

Leave well alone unless the pan is weeping oil and there is some need to dismount it.
If you have a weep from the electrical adaptor this can be changed without draining oil from the box.

First don't go to the dealer for a A or B service. You can change your own fluids and filters.Easy diy's.
Trans fluid and filter 722.6 mb TSB shows change of fluid and filter at 39k miles.
Any time after that is not to soon. When performed properly and using the mercedes spec. fluid.
Waiting till 100k miles is inviting problems.
pm me if you want to locate the diy's and turn a wrench. You will save thousands.
