W124 E420 won’t downshift when needed
Hey guys I have a 1995 Mercedes E420 with asr and recently replaced my transmission because the reverse was not working, and after I replaced it when I took it out for a test drive it was working very good, the shifts where smooth and reverse worked good, but when I press the pedal until the kickdown or even into the kickdown button it doesn’t not want to put it into a lower gear and just stays in the gear you are you are in, if you downshift manually it works fine. And what I also noticed is the Bowden cable has some slack in it, it feels like it is in place and actually pulling the transmission lever because it is not easy to pull it, but it just seems like it doesn’t retract all the way because there is slack at the end which causes the two arrows on the throttle assembly to not line up, I thought I just needed to adjust it at first but it needed so much adjusting that I extended it all the way and then took it for a drive and the same problem persists. So let me know what you guys think the problem could be?
