Update:
Last weekend I replaced the Blower Control Unit with the part from the pick and pay ($50) and it seems to work now - at least most of the time.
Two times in the past week I have started the car and the blower doesn't turn on, and no amount of pushing the various blower speed or selection buttons gets it to start. Only thing that works is shutting off the engine and restarting - which worked the first time in both instances.
Any suggestions on what could be the fault?
