Default trying to trade in a 08 Bmw 535i for a 07 mercedesE350

I currently owna 2008 535i in perfect condition with leather, sports pkg, auto, and ipod intergration and I'am looking to hopepfully do an even trade with a dealer for a 07 mercedes packaged similer. My car has 15,000 miles on it which is alot for an 08 but i know its a popular car right now that the dealer wouldhave no problem unloading. My Question is would it be feasible to think I would be able to trade my car evenly for an 07 merc-350 without having to pay anything? Do dealers even do trades like this? I know I would get more money for it if i sold it privatly but then I wouldntsee the benefit of thetax deduction from the mercedes since i would be buying it outright. Does anyone have any insight or advice on my situation????

Thanks alot for your help.

You upside down on the current car?08 with those miles is a big hit.07 bmw's with those miles take a hit.Dealer might offer you low 40's for your car and high 30's for the benz.So you might strike a deal.Tired of the bimmer being in the shop all the time?
You might shop a few dealers and come out with a few grand in your pocket or at least a wash.
good luck

The bimmer is nice but I'am looking for a more comfortable, quiet, ride for my everyday commutes. I was on the fence to begin with about the bimmer and i'am afraid I made the wrong decision. It's a very energetic car but its appeal isjust not for me. No real problems with the bimmer as of yet but its an 08 so that should go without saying hopefully! Being my car is an 08 iam going to see if Ican possibly be able to walk away with a merc with less miles on it. Most E-350 07 in my area are going between 40,000 - 45,000 so i dunno what my chances are of walking away with a few grand but I suppose its worth ashot. I'am not against going far distances to find the right deal but unfortunatly as you already know I cant afford to rack the miles up on the bmw anymore then they arleady are. My initial plan was to just find a E-350 locally that iam happy with regardless of price and see if he's willing to do an even trade for my vehicle. Alot of used 07's around here are ridicuolously overpriced(as well as bimmers)so I would of course have to talk them down to an amount that would coincide to what i'd be trading in the bimmer for. Thanks again Guy

Based on what you'd like to do, I think your best bet would be to sell the BMW to a private party and then use the money to purchase the MB of your choice. Be prepared to 'lose' 10 to 15K. Dealers don't do trades unless (a) there is obscene amounts of money to be made or (b) you the owner's favorite nephew.

Second best bet would be to trade the BMW in on a new MB. You'll still lose money but it'll be hiddened in the price of the MB (until you get ready to sell).

If you actually find someone via CL who wants to trade, why?? Is there something wrong with their car?

If it were me, I would drive the BMW for about 3 years and try to enjoy it. They're really nice cars. Then you can trade it in or sell it and get a MB without the big financial hit.

Best of luck in whatever you decide.
