Default throttle body E320

I recently purchased a 1994 E320 sedan. I love the car but I've had one annoying problem, the check engine light! When I start the car it revs and then dies. The only way I can get the car in motion is if I start the car in neutral, hold an idle with my foot on the gas pedal, and then shift to drive. When I took it into the shop the tech informed me that my throttle body (he called it a travel accuator) is failing. I guess there is an electric motor in the part that is not responding properly at cold start temps (the car runs fine after it has been warmed up). He quoted me a price for an OEM part of $2400. Has anybody else had this problem with this car, or have any suggestions?

Default RE: throttle body E320

First;
Make sure your cables and linkages are CLEAN and not BUNCHED up some where.

Then spray lube it down to ensure they flow freely.

Once you know that's been taken care of

Get some THROTTLE BODY CLEANER.
NOT CARBURETOR CLEANER!

Spray your Throttle Body and the entire assembly and get her real nice and clean.

See if that helps any.

It's cheap Insurance and it can only help.

Check Autohaus of Arizona for parts;

Good Luck!

Let us know how it turned out!
It would be interesting to know if a $8.00 can of spray fluid will save you thousands $$$

Good Luck!
