Default Sunroof acting up. 99 E320

Hey fellas I've got a 99 E320 and my sunroof for some reason won't roll all the way back without me having to keep moving the button. I hit the button and it stops then I have to hold it again. It only moves for inches at a time each time I hold the button. And then it doesn't move back up when I want to close it. I have to hit the "vent" button in order for it to close and then I have to stop it right before it goes into vent mode for it to close properly. Any suggestions? I hope I haven't confused anyone.

hold button in vent position for 10seconds with the roof closed then the roof should normalize.if not problem with motor or overhead control panel.

Thanks man that fixed it! Quick question though. Isn't it supposed to roll back on it's own once you hold the button back?

I have a similar problem with my E220 124 (1995) I had assumed that the rails needed greasing ?!.
After a quick look, I can't see how to do this. Any ideas please ?
