I have just bought a Mercedes 300e H reg. Was sluggish starting so renewed plugs and leads. This solved the problem. Next is the fact that the ABS light is always on. Checked the fuse on top of the relay that controls voltage.No problem with that. Took battery off and gave it an extra charge as I read that sometimes if the voltage drops below 10 volts the ABS shuts off. Put battery back on and then when I turned the ignition on there was a loud ticking.Car started but No diagnostic lights,oil pressure gage,rev counter etc all off. Cleaned all the fuses(they were all pretty old) still had the problem. Started car then after a minute or two the ticking stopped and al the guages etc started working again. Any ideas? Also still have the problem with the abs.Sensors look to be connected and are not loose.

Oh and I'm a newbie too so if this has been a topic before accept my appoligy.

Went out this morning.Tickings back and no guages???

 

Turned out to be fuses! One had a minute crack in it that was invisable to the naked eye.Somehow it caused the four type relay(Thats behind the fuse box.To contunously open and close which caused the noise.
