Default Sterio Malfunction Check before dealer

I have seen from time to time people saying (like I was) that my sterio just quit working one day...what is wrong? I have a 2003 E320 and I spoke with some people explained to me that on the newer vechicles that they do not use hard wiring but fiber optics instead. This means sensors that can go bad or can shut down on high temperature.

The dealers (I am told) can reprogram the sensors to a higher shut off temperature for living in higher temperature climates....like Phoenix where I live.

I think I got lucky in that the "Gateway" fuses which are the ones you need to find (why it is not a sterio fuse is beyond me) mine was in the trunk driver side (40 amp) and I was able to put it out, check it and re-insert it and my system came back on line. I think I am one of the lucky ones.

Hope this helps someone....anyone who happens to have seen the same issue.

Happy motoring!!
