Default SQUEAKY STEERING WHEEL

Recently the steering wheel on my 97 e320 has been squeeking. I noticed that it started squeeking after I had left the car in the hot sun all day & the temp in the car must have risen considerably. Any advice on how to keep it from squeeking? (Besides wd40)
Thanks!

Are you talking about your steering wheel making noise inside the cabin?

Or it makes the suspension squeal when the wheels are turned?

If the second one is what you meant, you need control arm bushing. These suckers die young in MBs. Benz suspensions with over 90k miles are as dry and less pleasurable as a woman after menopause.

if it is the first one major is talkin about. then there is a black rubber boot on the bottom of the steering column that allows the steering column to pass through the fire wall. apply a small amount of vaseline to the boot at the point where is touches the white plastic bushing. that is what usually fixes it

Thanks for the advice. It is the actual steering wheel making noise inside the cabin. I'll try applying vaseline to the boot.
