hello all i have a problem i have a w210 e220 cdi the batry seems to not be charging in the car however the batt light does not come on in the instrument cluster panel am i right to assume this alternator pulley works on a viscous style system?? and could this be the cause and if so how do i get it off???

youre probly looking at replacing the batery, if it was your alternator it wouldnt run at all after the battery runs out of reserve. ive never heard of a viscous type alternator but then again i may be wrong.does your car run fine and then when you turn it off it just wont start? then you jump start it then it runs just fine untill you turn it off? if so then your battery is shorting in one of the cells, i recommend to have it tested and possibly replaced if it is in fact a bad battery
