Default Sat Nav Comand Activating Issue

Hi guys

We have a 2003 E270 CDI.

The sat nav was working fine, but today you press the sat nav or maps button and it says 'sat nav activating' but nothing happens!

We waited about 10 minutes - nothing.

Ejected the disc - noted it was a copy for 2012 which the previous owner installed. Put it back in. Nothing. Tried this 3-4 times.

What's happened????!?!?!!?

This will need to go to the MB dealer.
99% odds it is an internal fault in the command assembly = replace with a NEW command unit.

Replacement PART cost can vary from $1,500.00 USD - $9,000.00 USD, depending upon which unit is required.

Warning; As I recall, your command unit interfaces with the security system = install an unauthorized unit and the vehicle is disabled.

All of the newer command units require security code authorization to merge the new navigation system into the vehicle = MB dealer only.

Oh dear. That does not sound good.

I think I'll try buying a new 2012 copied disc for £35 first, and maybe also try head cleaning the nav unit too.

A new Comand unit is not really an option unfortunately.
