Rear View Mirro
sounds to me like some sort of electrical short. if you can see the alarm warning lights at night clearly do they both work as they sould? e.g red one flashing periodically when the car is locked and then the green one when it is just opened etc. if not the unit itself is faulty. heres the catch, that mirror of yours would have the brians of the alarm in it so it is unique to your pacicular car if you know what mean. believe me they are rediculusly expensive to replace. (£400+) min. i would suggestthat you leave well enough alone and put up with the noise but if it is very anoying reply to this and i can give you advise on how to open the 'sealed for life' unit and perhaps rectify the problem.

Obviously the first thing I would do is touch the mirror to see if it is just vibration causing the buzz. I think Joe has some good advice, however, it could also be the light sensing unit in the mirror as well. I have a '98 E320 and it automatically adjusts for light sensitivity. I had no idea the alarm brain was located in the mirror.
