Default rear axle replacement-90 300e w124 chassis

Can anyone tell me the procedure to R&R the rear axle? replied on another post but it was the procedure for a w123- the axle on my car has 6 bolts attaching the inboard side of the axle to the carrier flange and the outer side just has a 30mm axle nut. When I remove the 30mm axle nut, remove the 6 bolts(look like torx heads), will the axle slide out of the hub(it's splined)? I know I don't need to open the differential because this axle does not go into the differential. I'm just not sure if I should continue-the car is jacked up, caliper is off and I removed the rotor.
Please advise. thank you
