Default Proper Tire Pressure?

I have a 2007 E350 with the Sport Package that includes the factory 18" alloy wheels. My tires (that came on the car) are Continental brand ContiProContact, front 245/40 R 18 93V and rear 265/35 R 18 97V.

The tire pressure sticker inside the fuel filler door indicates cold pressures of 28 front and 33 rear for under 100 mph and 29 front and 35 rear for over 100 mph.

An MBZ tech once told me to inflate them to 32 front and 34 rear (cold) however every time I have the car serviced at an MBZ dealer the tech inflates all the tires to around 40 psi.

I typically keep the tires inflated to 32 front and 34 or 35 rear (cold). What are the proper, ideal, recommended, etc., pressures for these tires?

Thanks for the help.
