Power Steering Leak Problem? Is it Common?
I have a 1995 E420, with a power steering leak? Is this common on the 1995's? The rebuild kit for the pump and reservoir was put in, the leak has slowed, but it is still coming out. There is a slow leak somewhere. Would it be coming out of the steering box? How many power steering lines are there? Would it be leaking from a line? Thanks for all your help!

Clean down the installation (power wash / degrease etc) to deternine exactly where the leak is coming from.
Until you know this you are shooting in the dark.
It may be a split line, a poor connection (damaged thread or seating) or a seal in the steering box itself.

RE: Power Steering Leak Problem? Is it Common?
By this time, it's fairly common for a power steering hose to kick the bucket. And sometimes the pump seals start to leak also. The steering gearbox is a very sturdy piece of equipment (and usually expensive itself.) but the seals also tend to seep by now.
Should be two power steering lines going to and from the power steering pump and the steering gearbox. One is the sending hose and the other is the return.
Also check and see if the fluid is dripping onto any other components, like exhaust, or upper fuel lines, or maybe only on the under carriage. This can aid you in finding the leak.
