Default Power loss 2002 E320 4 Matic Wagon

While driving form Wisconsin to the mountains of Coloado I experienced significant power loss after driving in the mountains on I70 for about 60 minutes at 60 - 70 mph. I first noticed the loss on a DOWNHILL stretch! I had to accelerate emough to casue a downshift to keep up with traffic. Foruntately I was with 10 miles of my destination and made there.

There was NO rough running or shifting. No check engine lights. The engine temp was normal as was oil pressure. NO emergency brake on. All appears normal under the hood. The car has 86,000 miles, all maintennce is current and otherwise is in pristine condition.

I'm far from home, in the mountains with a car that seems to have a significant problem and my family and myself dependent upon it to return home to Wisconsin in 5 days.

Anyone have any advice?

Unhappy Up to date maint?

89K miles.... are your plugs original?
How is your air filter?
Using good gas?
Have you run a can of Seafoam or Techron thru it in the last 10K miles?
Is your battery original. (You would be shocked at how a weak battery can impact a vehicle.)

Good luck.
