Default Oil Level error E320Cdi W211 eng 648 2/2005

I have a problem, the dash warning tells me the oil level is OK when standing and cold, but at speed it says in red 'reduce oil level'. The dealers have checked out electronically and say the oil level should be reduced. I asked them to prove it to me by using a DIPSTICK, they say they are NOT ALLOWED to have one in the workshop and want me to buy it!!!!!!!!! I have been told by Just Answer that the software is a problem, and they can obtain one. Any comments please?

As a follow up, I had an MB2U in June and with a measuring stick NOT a dipstick it showed that the it was overfull by 20mm, ie 2ltrs. This was removed and since then no problems- except the Merc dealer denies overfilling at service in Jan, denies that he replaced a sensor unnecessarily, refuses a refund or an apology- Merc customer care senior rep said no way the dealer can admit to overfilling.

Doh, but the dealer changed the oil in January, the 'reduce oil level' appeared and was reported on the day of collection. The warning was intermittent. They advised to change the OIL LEVEL SENSOR in Feb, OK- initially it seemed to be the cure, but by the end of May error became persistent. At that stage and for the first time they suggested reducing the oil level, which begged a question or two. Sure I could have said go ahead, but I was a bit more curious- hence my post of 27th May. Believe me I am annoyed with the way this was handled and I think that your abuse should be directed at the dealer if you really are an MB man at heart.
