Default Odometer quit

Just purchased a 1986 300E and after about 2 days of driving it, the odometer quit working.

Is the odometer/speedometer in this vehicle a mechanical linkage or electrical? Is there possibility a fuse that may have blown?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default RE: Odometer quit

I had a similar situation not too long ago. I first checked all my fuse especially the onethat controls the odometer...I believe it was on #7. ..check the cover of your fuse box to verify location, anyway, It had afracture that was so smallthatis not visible to the naked eye, I even passed it fora good fuse untill a fellow member by the name of Carnut, adviced me to replace the said fuse and itworked well ever since. My concern is that my caris a 1990 300E. I'm notsure if we have the same configuration. As formy speedometer, I believe it is controlled bya cable and not electric.I hopethis helps in anyway.
