Default New to me 2005 E320 - noises

Please, PLEASE tell me that when i put the key in the ignition it is supposed to make a noise like it is preparing to do something...it sounds like an electrical "something" booting up. I feel it through the brake pedal. It does it either immediately upon putting the key in, or right when i put the brake pedal down to shift to reverse to back out of the garage.

I have 45 days left on my 60 day warranty. It will go in for service for sure, but is this normal and anticipated and if not, is it a common/cheap issue?

Thaks guys!
Rob

Default 2005 e320 noises

Totally normal! The noise you are hearing is the sbc module running to supply brake line pressure. The pump will run when you open the door, cycle the key, press the brake pedal consecutively 5 times. There are several instances that cause it to run. The SBC module is your brake pressure so it will run a lot. You will get used to it over time. If there is a problem a malfunction will notify you.
