just today purchased my new baby, a 94 E320 with about 83k, polar white with black leatha interior. drove it on friday, got it inspected and passed emissions yesterday, but today when i insert the key i was unable to turn it at the end to start the car, the key is just like stuck right before where you actually get the car started. poped the hood and i noticed that something right in front of the steering wheel (under the hood) sound like its locked up and everytime i try to turn the key it just hits that and somehow gets blocked. The car is still parked there, i was wondering any1 here may have any idea of why its acting so werid. thanks up front.

have you tried wiggling the steering wheel while turning the key?

.. Another problem arised, now i am unable to start my engine again.. this time the syndron is a little different. everytime i try to start it my engine just makes a small little noise and then nothing happens. anyone know why shes doing this?

just found out that the car simply wont start while on park, it has to be on another gear like N to be started. what is the cause of this? can it be a bad switich?

 

the ESM or gear selector module could be bad this is a very common problem especially when people spill coffe, water or some other drink in the selector.

 

how much money could this run at? thanks

Siccmade, how much did the dealer charge to fix the ESM problem? (if that was the problem) I'm having the same problem with my car. I spilled some pepsi, and now the car is stuck in 2nd gear.
