Major Issues Neglected E280- from Australia

Hello
My Dads 98 E280 hasnt been driven in a while and has got some weird problems.
1. the engine makes a horrible ticking noise when its running. Particulary when it starts the noise is very loud
2. the auto up and down function on all 4 windows no longer works
The car has done 130000km and the spark plugs have not been changed. [:@] [:@] [:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]

And as a side note why does the e class have for extra holes for speakers????

Sounds like oil isn't getting to one of the hydraulic tappets/cam followers when the engine is cold. When did it last have new oil in? Does it have the correct grade oil? MB's are VERY fussy about the oil they run on. Use OE recommendation. One of the best oils is Mobil 1 0w-40 but this is expensive and may be overkill on a car that has covered this mileage. Also check the crank pulley to ensure this is running TRUE. ie Not wobbling. If it is wobbling this needs replacement.
2. the auto up and down function on all 4 windows no longer works.
If ALL windows fail to function then it is likely that the battery feed is bad most probably due to a blown fuse.
The car has done 130000km and the spark plugs have not been changed.
Plugs should be changed at ABOUT 60k so you are long overdue. However if it starts and runs fine no damage will have been incurred. Suggest you change them ASAP. You can DIY since the job is expensive at a MB dealer due to limited access. You need 12 plugs! 2 per cylinder. Several posts have been made outlining how to proceed. Use OE plugs.

Presumably because your vehicle has the base radio installation. The extra speakers were used to raise the spec to Lux.
S class has about 11 speakers!
