Just Purchased a 2004 E500 - Have some questions
Since I am new to MB E500 and this forum, I would like to know of any recalls, software updates for any of the computers (trans, engine, etc.) I hope to learn more and more every time I am on this forum. Any help would be great. Thanks!
Is this '04 a sedan or a wagon and is it a 4-matic? The ride control motor for the suspension has a harness issue that causes the car to display the alert and is almost $7000 to fix if you let the dealer change all the components. It is really only a broken wire in the harness located in the driver's front fender well that supplies the electric motors pump or relief valve. The brake fluid sensor gets upset if there is too much moisture in the system...easy flush. If it is a wagon, the rear power harness can have a stress issue and not be securely clipped inot the rear fuse box and lose power to the dash and fuel pump and the car dies. Other than that the car is pretty reliable. Regards, Bob
