Default Value?? 1987 190E 2.6

Hello, I am new to this forum although I am a frequent poster(?) on pelicanparts as I own a Porsche 911.
So I stumbled across this forum as I am trying to determine the value of a 1987 190E that I found for sale.
Is this a rare car?? I thought I read that older 190Es with a 2.6 was tought to come by, maybe I misread something.

Here are the specs,
The car is in pretty good condition. 135K Onew owner miles and was well taken care of.
Runs well, but does seem to have some cold start difficulties as it stumbles a little when it is cold, but fine when warmed up.
Sunroof works fine.
Transmission was replaced 8K miles ago to the tune of $4K.
The car needs a heater core. I am in WI so I will need heat.
The orginal stereo was stolen and replaced with an aftermarket one, I would look to find an orginal if I purchase.
There is a little rust around the jack pad ports.
Radio antenna does not go up.
interrior is in pretty good condition, one small tear on drivers seat.
Other than that pretty good condition.
Any thoughts????
Thanks for the help, B

regretably i don't think the 190E was a good car...I worked with a guy who bought a brand new one (early/mid 1980's) the very first issue and it was a piece of junk, my 1976 BMW 2002 was much tighter and quicker with 54K miles on it....

I guess it would depend if you liked the body style and the interior-basically the car itself. You don't mention the price, but most probably because it's an MB, it's inflated. Generally, parts are whoring high and the labor ridiculous unless you do most of the work-witness the $4K transmission job. That's the owner's folly- that old of a car doesn't give him any leverage for work he had done to it unless it was totally restored, which it was not. He dumped $4K into the trans, but let the AC, the heater core and the radio slide....tells me that he was just interested in keeping it barely running, nothing more.

To me, the car would be worth $1000-1500...if I liked it. It would cost you at least double that to get most things working again like they should (you doing the work) and I know nothing about the engine condition. There seems to be an overabundance of people dumping old MB's right now that 'Just need a little work'. Translation, $5K+ worth of 'little'.

Doesn't sound like it's in 'pretty good condition' to me. Rather it sounds like a marginal car, barely taken care of in its later yrs and now a money pit with rust. I wouldn't buy any MB with evidence of rust. Don't be seduced because it's a MB-unless you want to do the work yourself and/or it can be bought really cheap. Hold out for a better cared for car....or newer.

Kevin
