Just purchased 1994 e320 & have a transmission problem - K1 Spring? Please Help
Hello every one,
I recently purchased a 1994 mercedes e320 cabriolet and have some transmission problems that came up today. I'm very nervous because I'm caring for my father (who recently had a stroke), have a newborn baby, and finances are very tight. I'm hoping I might be able to get some good advice on what this problem might be and how to try and solve it.
Here is what happened.
Today I drove for about 1 hour and then went in reverse for about 2 minutes and shifted a little quicker than normal into drive. I noticed a very slight "bump" at that time. Then I drove for 15 minutes when I noticed that the car seemed to be reving too high. This was happening at around 60 mph. The RPM's were at around 3,500. A few minutes later they dropped to 2,500 (and I slightly felt a shift) then once again back up to 2,500 rpms.
This happened the entire drive home (car went back and forth between 2,500 and 3,500 rpm's when driving around 60 mph).
I bought the car 3 weeks ago with 150,000 miles and have put on 500 miles. It drove perfectly before today. I have the service records and it looks like it was well cared for. I didn't notice anything about the transmission fluid being changed though. A few days ago my mechanic changed the oil, oil filter, Air filter, and the fuel filter. This is the first time I've taken the car out since he worked on it but I can't imagine he could have done anything to have caused this.
I'm wondering if the K1 Spring kit could help this problem or any other possible fixes that won't be too involved.
Thanks!

Also, I noticed that there is some fluid on my garage floor...I don't think its transmission fluid though. It could be. I'm a little confused about how to check my fluid. Some people say it should be running, others say it should be cold....
Buy some ramps drive the car up and take a look under it. If you can't tell where it is leaking clean it off with some engine bright and a hose. Don't lay in the engine bright it will eat your skin.
I'm pretty sure that trans has a pan. Look on you tube or google images at what a tranmission pan should look like and where it is. See if it is leaking from the pan gasket.
Then get a trans service, should be under $125 bucks if the guy doesn't rip you off.
He's gonna dop the pan, change the filter replace the gasket and change the fluid. If you're real nervous about it use AMSOIL sythetic fluid. It rocks.
