Default ignition key..... help....!!!!!

I have a 2001 E 320 and this morning I tried to start the vehicle like usual and when I inserted the ignition key it did not make the usual sounds and could not turn ignition switch over. it stays locked ! went and bought new batteries for the master key, but nothing...... it seems that it does not recognize this key anymore !! can anybody give me an idea of what it could be?

if you have a spare try it...try puttin a charger on the battery and then see if the key turns

Smile Try something else

I don't think the problem is your key. When you put the new batteries in... and you press one of the buttons... do you get the red light blinking on the remote to let you know that you have power? If your remote is showing signs of life and you still can't turn the key... try the charger idea. It may be coincidence that you have a new battery and now nothing works... Just a thought. My guess is battery issues. Good luck!
