Default Ignition Switch Key Lock tumbler cylinder replacement on '67 200D - Please Help

Hello Everyone,

My name is Aaron, I am new to this forum and also new to owning a Benz. I have had a 1967 200D for a couple months now. It is very fun and gets lots of attention. However, recently I have had trouble with the ignition switch. As long as I have had the car, the key would pull out of the tumbler with the key in the on position. The last time I drove it, over a month now, the key came out with it in between on and off position and the tumbler got stuck there. I called a locksmith who tried to pick it but broke it more. Now it needs to have the cylinder/tumbler replaced. However, I can not see how to take it out. It looks like it comes out from the front of the dash, but I do not have access to it because of the metal panels of the unibody. There is a small hole where a long slender tool can be inserted below the lock, but I am not sure what to do here. The dash looks next to impossible to take appart. I tried to remove the steering column, but that also is not an easy task. Can anyone offer any help here? If anyone could give me some tips, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

I should also mention that the lock cylinder is linked to the pull **** that starts and stops the motor. The key cannot be removed until the **** is pushed in.
