How do you get Broken Spark Plug Out of Lead on W124 103 Engine?
I've searched to see if others have had this problem. I have a broken plug. Engine side comes out no problem but the other end - half the ceramic - is stuck in the lead. How do I get the sucker out? I have ordered new leads and plugs but meanwhile I'd really like to put a new plug in.
Is it possible to undo the metal? I see there is a ring around the end and a few metals lugs - seems to me it might be possible to undo it.
It's a 1992 W124 103 Engined 260E with 133k on it.
Oh yeah - I see there is a small hole in the metal down near the seat of the spark plug. Possibly from the spark arching. Plugs haven't been changed for 4 years, I'd say.
Amazingly, even though the spark-plug is broken in two the engine fires without a miss and the car drives fine.
