I have 1994 E320 with 181K and I love it. I just bought it. It needs couple of minor things here and there, that's it.

My 1999 E320 is the best car I've ever owned;I got it 1.5 years ago for $8000 with 143,000, good deal, but I've had to put some money into it with brakes, tires, battery, starter, somecomputer module, transmission service, and new serpentine belt, aswell as fixing some oil leaks. This all sounds major, but most of it is just wear and tear stuff; When I bought the car, Kelley Blue Book was around 13K, so I got it for a greatprice, and expected to have to do some work. All told (because my MBmechanic isactually honest and fair) I have an additional$2100 or so into the car, and have 178,000 on her now. Rides like adream, and I'm6'3", 250, in my car most of the day. I definitely feel more refreshed at the end of the daygetting out of myE320 than my Honda Accord!!

High miles are ok, if you can verify proper servicing. Most E class owners take care of thier cars (according to cars.com and CR). Also, high mile cars that you can get history on, will indicate if it is problem proneor not. I love my E320, most enjoyable car I have ever owned. Good luck.

My dad has a Mercedes E320 Sedan with 265,000 miles on it and runs like a beauty. He has perfectly maintained it, but still a quality car. He takes it to a Mercedes-Benz mechanic who tells him all the time how the '98 E320 is the most reliable car they made.

As other members have pointed out, MBZ W210 and W211 are both quite reliable platforms. I've attached a link to the DIY tech articles for both series. Please let us know if you have any questions.
