Hello, My name is Joe T, I'm new here, just aquired a beautiful '91 300E. I'll get right to the point; Anyone ever change out the headlightsto an aftermarket product? My '91 has headlight wipers and I can't get any answers out of the ebay vendors. Question pt II; Anyone have any experience recharging the AC on a pre '94 Mercedes? I'd love to get some tips on these subjects. Thanks!

 

Yes I have changed the headlights to the European style Bosh ones with the clear corner blinkersIt is amazing how much younger it makes the car look. I have also on a 260E just changed the fog lifht lenses both jobs are actually quite easy. I removed the front wipers when I upgraded to the European and bought new metal pieces ffor underneath the lights w/o the hole for the wiper it looks great but there are wiper conversion kits available to European lights.I have never recharged the ac. I have two W124 style Mercedes and think they are superior in design and durability to anything that Mercedes has put out post 1995. I would recomend buying "The E class Bible" it is loaded with older E class info, I refered to it while doint the headlights and I am sure there is a section concerning the climate control system. Sorry for the lenghty response but I am passionate about these cars.

Thank you for the response. I just ordered the "E Class Bible" and I'm looking forward to sharing info as I get more into this car. Still learning about the AC. Any good horror stories out there? I've heard of insane amounts of money being spent on AC repairs for these cars.
