Front End Noise
Hello all
Just bought a 2003 E320 with 42K miles. Love the Car!
Been driving for a couple of days and started to hear a growl on the front end. Seems to be worse after driving on freeway for and then exiting anddriving around town. Growl is worse at 22MPH. Sound like my explorer when the front hub assemby bearings went bad.
Any advise ??

RE: Front End Noise
Hey Eric -
I don't suppose you bought an extended warrantee with it, huh? I did on my 2003 E320 ... I have a 'popping' sound when I got over something like a speed-bump. Otherwise, it is a fine ride! If you don't have a warrantee, you might be able to go back where you got the car and ask them about it ... a few hundred bucks for extra 15K miles to take it in. Might be worth it.

RE: Front End Noise
yea it definately sounds like a wheel bearing problem-when your vehicle is making the noise and if your in an open road start "swaying" the vehicle back and forth and see if the noise goes away or gets worse-if your turn left and all the vehicle weight is loaded on the right front wheel bearing and noise is louder then thats probably the bad wheel bearing-this can be tricky since i have seen 211 chassis E-classes have the rear wheel bearings go bad but you can usually hear that coming from the rear seat-try that and see what you come up with-also dont get fooled by having both front wheel bearings bad-hope i can help ya out
