Hello all. First post here.

I am presently looking at picking up a silver 04 E500 with about 35k on the odometer. Are there any BIG known problems with these cars? It will be out of warranty soon, and I'd hate to have a big repair bill come my way.

I am a weekend mechanic warrior, and work on my own cars. I've owned nothing but GM products.

Ill be looking through this board to find what kind of problems people are having, but wanted a general idea on what to expect I guess. Thanks!

the most trouble prone car in mb history.hard to work on,poor brake sysyem,poor electronics poor quality.
Pick yourself up a well inspected w210 model 2002 for half the price enjoy a solid car with low miles for about 12-13 tho.

Damn... and I really really like that body style as well.

 

It´s the wost MB ever. I had had 2 w211s, I still own a 04 E500, and all of them has been very problematic cars: suspension, electrics, brakes, audio system, hoses even door locks has failed continuosly. They are poorly manufactured (no undestructible cars anymore), all have lots of rattles in the rear of the car. It´s a shame because as you said they a beautyful cars. Try a 07/08 w211 (E280, E350, E320 Bluetec or E500) WITH full warranty.
