Default Engine light

I have 1993 300E with an engine light on. Are the code readers available for these cars if so where can you get them?

If the cel is on with the old obd1 system the part causing the code has failed, unlike the obd2 system that monitors and gives warnings of problems that can be corrected before failure at times.
where are you located?stateside obd2 scanner can be purchased for 39 bucks from harbor freight tools scanner 94169 and then google obd adapter
check application

inquire with seller but it is what you are looking for ,count the pins in the port under the hood and that is what you want to read off with the conversion cable.
visit the 300e forum on mbworld.org and maybe a member has a cable or scanner you can borrow also inquire about possible causes on the 300.

I'm in the Atlanta area. My 300E is from California and has the 16-Pole Data Link Connector, not the 38-Pole Connector. Are there adapters for this DLC to OBD2 testers?
